Wah lan eh. What can be more suay than a morning full of mishaps.I headed off to the canteen as I always do before assembly every morning, and was rather happy. But then, I saw no familiar face even though it was already seven o'clock. I thought maybe they're a bit late lor, wait a bit la. Then 5 minutes passed. 10 minutes. 15.. until it was a third-past seven. Then again, they might be in the assembly grounds..
So off I went to the assembly grounds. I saw two girls seated down, chatting away to one another. That must be yin and min together bah.. or qian nan, probably. As I approached the blurry figures, (note: I do not wear specs unless required. Bad habit.) I found out that they were actually 4M1 girls (nono not those two chatterboxes haha)
SO WHERE THE HELL WAS EVERYBODY?!!?
.. I didn't know. Why the heck am I the only one sitting down now, reading my book? Aren't there exams today? I felt SO embarrassed looking at people walk by, chatting with friends.. I looked up at our classroom, but it was empty. Perhaps they're making their way down from the block. (Wow, I'm full of optimism today huh?) Time for assembly came. I realised.. I was alone.
Daniel: "Yo!"
Me: "... hey."
Daniel: "Solo today ah?"
Me: "Don't rub it in la. I don't know where everybody is lor.."
Daniel: "Haha, you all got exams today one anot?"
Me: "Well, I certainly thought we did.."
Daniel: "But if you don't go hide now, you'll be alone leh."
[Principal walks by]
Principal: "So, how's your exams?"
Me: Nahbei, this time still care only about exams. Everything exams. Exams this, exams that; you like it so much you take for me lah! "Er, okay la. So far so good," Ooooh Gloria you're such an incorrigible liar. "just that it seems apparent that my classmates are missing.."
Principal: *looks around* "Aren't there exams today?"
Me: ...Damn it, one minute don't think of exams will die meh?! "Yah, at least that's what I know of."
Principal: *laughs* *walks away*
Me: "....やろ.."
So yes, I was sadly alone.
But alas, I saw someone familiar! An ally! Woot! \o/
... but when I saw his face, I knew Lady Luck was cowering somewhere else today instead of cringing under my wrath. (Then again that might be the reason she's gone.. v_v) Because.. the face I saw was a face so abhorring you could boil your eyes in scalding water, and the pain is incomparable to looking at him! Rawr!
So tell me. Why the HELL must it be kwokway, huh? Of ALL suay things to happen, don't let the one to be as stupid as me be HIM LA! -_- He spoke to Daniel (of course, as usual. He avoids EVERY DAMN GIRL because all of them are "acbc". Apparently that goofball hasn't looked at himself in the mirror to reflect on his own fugly character.) and after he left (thank God for that), Daniel told me that he was only here to take something.
Damn. So I was still alone without reinforcements. Ah well, being alone is FAR BETTER than being alone with kwokway LOL.
Just then, Mrs Patricia Joseph walked by.
Mrs Joseph: "Hi, you alone from your class?"
Me: Oh you people love adding oil to the fire, don't you.. "Ahaha.. yes, apparently." *points to the emptiness of what was supposed to be my class*
Mrs Joseph: "Oh my, *laughs* "don't worry. Anyway, I need you to pin this up on your notice board; you have post-exam talks from JCs."
Me: "Oh, okay.." *takes and keeps*
And she walks off. Back comes the loneliness =(
Me: "Err, Mrs Joseph?" Oh Gloria, pathetic attempt at saving yourself.. >_>
Mrs Joseph: "Yes?"
Me: "Is there any reason that you might know of.. why 5A happens to be missing?"
Mrs Joseph: "Sorry dear, but there's none I know of unless the exam takes place later.."
Me: (Warmth in heart = -100 Kelvin) "Sigh, okay. Thanks Mrs Joseph."
Mrs Joseph apparently noticed that I was rather upset, so she offered to let me stand behind with her.
Me: *looks at the emptiness behind me* "Err, no, thanks.. really ._."
Mrs Joseph: "Okay," she smiles, "then I'll stand beside you for today."
Me: *is touched* "Thanks!" =D
Ooh, then guess who joins in the picture? (Nono not kwokway. -_-)
Tom Chan! Yup, he just walked up, stood beside me and said, "good, Pat, make her sing the anthem loudly."
Me: "... shut up. >_>" So much for being a form teacher.. I thought you were on my side!
After the national anthem and pledge thingy, I was still upset, but thanked Mrs Joseph nevertheless, for being such a dear and keeping me company from the frightening grasps of lonliness. After Mr Chan told me that the exams actually started at 1010, my face was from a ^_^ which became a -_-.
So that's why everyone's not here..
Mr Chan: "It's okay, you can go up to the library to study.."
Gloria: "Good idea. Thanks Mr Chan, see ya"
I walked across the carpark full of filing students, when I bumped upon..
No!! Can you dingbats stop thinking it's kwokway?!
Anyway, where was I. Oh yah. I saw.. the principal. Again.
Principal: "So, found them?"
Me: *gives that 'you-know-I-hate-you' smile* "Hmm? No. Exam's at 1010."
Principal: *laughs* "Good job."
Me: "...." Fuck you. -_- You think it's funny to insult a Normal Acadamic student? Huh? You could NEVER BEAR to provoke your wonderful Express students, but make killjoy to laugh at my demise?! Cheeebyeeeeee!
So this adventure continues, with me being the clay pidgeon in a shooting gallery. As predictable as it is, it goes on with more unluckiness. The library was closed, going back to the classroom would bear no fruit. Being alone in the classroom sucks. Really. =(
I decided to go home then. But I didn't know if I could [imagine Tiger screaming at someone in the background], so I wanted to find Tom Chan. There were two places he would be at; the field, or the staff room. I concluded that he may have a better chance of being at the field, so I went there (even though the staff room was closer at that point in time). I felt so stupid walking behind that 4L1 guy, I felt like kicking myself over if I had a fake (I forgot that word for it) leg.
As Luck (or lack, thereof) would have it, he wasn't at the field! (Well DUH, it's exam period. Why am I just that stupid?
Blah blah. I had to walk back to the staff room. Feeling stupid. Again. -_-
At least Mdm Quek helped me out (after that teachers' day thingy I seem to be on good terms with a lot of teachers o_o) to look for Tom Chan in the staff room. She's nice. =)
Me: "Err.." *gives unsure grin and bow*
Mdm Quek: "Yes?" *smiles*
Me: "Good morning, Mdm Quek, could you help me find Tom Chan?"
Mdm Quek looks at me incredulously..
Me: "Eh nono! I mean Mr Chan! Sorry sorry.."
Mdm Quek laughs, and does the deed, without questions asked.
Me: "Thanks!" God, I've been saying that the whole day..
So Tom Chan comes out, and I tell him I want to head home for the time being. He says I can, and I do so. Once out of the school...
Lady: (In heavy Chinese accent) "Ah, xiao jie.." (Ah, young lady..)
Me: SHIIIT! Not China woman! NOOO!! "Er, you shen me shi ma?" (How can I help you?)
Lady: "Blahwaggawaggadingdongching" (Actually that just means I didn't understand)
Me: "Huh?" Damn, why me. Why SO SUAY!?!
Lady: *firmly* "Qing wen ning de xiao yuan de ke tang you mei you leng qi?" (Do your school classrooms have air-conditioning?)
Me: *thinks for a while to let the chinese sink in* "Err, hao xiang mei you." (Err, I don't think so.) Waiiitt. I think?! There isn't!!"
Lady: "Oh, na me... Hen re ma?" (Oh, so.. Is it warm?)
Me: I don't know what the hell she's talking about. THIS IS SINGAPORE, LADY! Of course every frigging place is hot without air-conditioning! "You yi dian ba.. you qi zai.. err, afternoon." (Slightly.. well, especially in the afternoons.) Oh shit Gloria, you don't even know 'afternoon' in chinese!? -_-
Lady: "Oh, zhong wu, shi ma?" (Oh, in the afternoon?)
Me: ... Right. I knew that. "Ah, dui dui dui. Bao qian, wo de hua yu shi bu da hao de.." (Ah, yesyesyes. Sorry, my mandarin is terrible..)
Lady: "Orh, mei guan xi. Xie le!" (It's okay. Thanks!)
Me: "Ah.." *thinks for words to say* "Bu ke qi..* (You're welcome..)
... KNS. Why of ALL people must I meet someone from China?!!? Now I give the China lady two bad but yet, untrue impressions of Singapore's education system.
1) They SUCK at Mandarin (which is not true, because almost all my classmates are FAR better than I am).
And 2) Singapore schools are not priveledged to have air-conditioning. Singapore schools aren't worth China people to come study in! (Which is again NOT true, because I believe qian nan likes it here =P)
Then I walked off, punched the traffic light (and caused injury, damn!!) to vent my silly anger, came home...
... blogged this, time to go back to school..
... but now it's raining.
Suay like anything.
